coach a team

Warm-up your spirit fingers, lace up your sneakers and inspire a group of girls to be strong and healthy. Teams of volunteer coaches facilitate our easy-to-follow curriculum with small groups of girls over the course of 10 weeks. Amidst the conversation, laughter, hugs and energy awards, you will witness transformational change in the girls and don't be surprised if you realize that you are positively changing as well!

Running Buddies

Running Buddies are an important and exciting part of the Girls on the Run program. Each girl in the program is paired up with a Running Buddy who runs, walks, or skips alongside her at the end-of-season 5k. Running Buddies encourage and keep pace with their girl, ensuring her safety and sharing in her exhilaration as she crosses the finish line.

Running Buddies can be any inspiring and qualified women in the community such as students, teachers, or family friends with additional Running Buddies filling in from girls' families to ensure every GOTR girl has a Running Buddy.

"I coach for girls on the run because every girl deserves to have a safe space to laugh and learn... and I get to laugh and learn at every practice too!"

- Coach Sharon

"Teaching girls to take pride in themselves is a great reminder of our own potential worth."

- Volunteer Mary

"I have watched so many girls grow and learn that they are valuable, important, and strong. And I have learned right along side our girls, that I am valuable, important, and strong."

- Coach Allison

"From the moment I learned of GOTR I have wanted to do all I can to make a difference. This has given me the opportunity to help raise money for a good cause, learn new fundraising skills, and meet more people like myself."

- Volunteer Jessica
